RefAccess, a Laser-less Remote Optical DAS Solution
Conventional In-Building Wireless Coverage solutions, using optical fibers, are based on a symmetric concept. Therefore, the active optical elements, lasers and photo-receivers, are deployed at both ends: the Central Station (CS) and the Remote Unit (RU).
Optiway’s patent pending technology breaks the symmetry by removing active elements from the remote unit, dramatically reducing the remote unit's cost and complexity as well as simplifying the installation, maintenance and MTBF of In-Building Wireless systems.
Furthermore, applying Optiway’s unique patented Optical Time Division Multiplexing (OTDM) technology to RefAccess increases coverage quality and avoids crosstalk between up and down links.

Optiway’s RefAccess technology solution offers true convergence of mobile and fixed services by supporting high bandwidth (up to 10 GHz) and the coexistence of analog and digital transmissions. A single-fiber solution is able to deliver all wireless services including Wi-Fi, Cellular 3G standards and emerging standards such as WiMax and LTE.
